Plot Summary

An all-new chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga, Blood & Chrome takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, The Borgias), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Though Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz), the two men must set their differences aside when a routine escort mission with an enigmatic passenger (Lili Bordán) turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.

Lame

The effects and ships were good, but that is wear it ended - this movie does not live up to it's legacy and is poorly written and acted. The story seemed promising for the first 20 minutes then went slow and campy with shallow characters who you never get to know or care about.. I hope we don't see this cast again in any future BSGs.. This movie does to the BSG legacy what Star Trek Enterprise did to Star Trek ..

Could have been

I see a lot of reviews complaining of shoe string budgets and horrible acting. I don't think people realize this was a web series made on a shoe string budget that was supposed to be a pilot for a full show if picked up. Scifi declined to pick up this show, give it a real budget and better actors. Itunes should really let people know this was a grass roots web series made in the hopes of scifi accepting the premise and greenlighting the real show.

A good addition to the BSG universe.

Well, it was better than Caprica. To be fair, though, it would have to work hard to be worse. But, like the "first" Star Wars trilogy, the basic concept is badly flawed. The idea that humans would have built the Cylons is as ridiculous as the transporters in Star Trek.

Let's create a slave population. Let's make this slave population in every way superior to man. Stronger, faster, more durable, better reasoning, better senses. Now let's program in concepts of liberty, freedom, self-determination. Let's let it know that its population lives in a perpetual state of subjugation, and we absolutely MUST be sure that it knows that subjugation is a horrible crime. Now, let's top it off with revolution and rebellion. Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics? Pshaw! Who needs em? It's not as if the Cylons might rebel. Now let's hand our children to those very slaves. (Yes, I felt the need to soapbox here.)

The new Galactica model is every bit as cool as the last. Personally, I found the CG a bit too busy. Like "Attack of the Clones," too much action in the background obscures the foreground. Just because you have more CG capability than God doesn't mean you have to use it. Keep the detail high but tone down the activity a bit. And slow down the jump cuts. Let us see what's going on. That especially applies to the battle scenes. There's the "fog of war" in real battle, but this is entertainment. You spent weeks making the ships look cool. Give us time to see them.

I agree with other posters about how shallow the characters are. But having said that, there needs to be less soap opera and more Battlestar Galactica. I liked the character of Lt. Hadrian. It was nice to see that actress again.
