Plot Summary
Bill (Michael Sheen of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, FROST/NIXON) and Kate‘s (Maria Bello of A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, THE COMPANY MEN) already strained marriage is tested when their college-age son commits a shocking act of violence that reverberates across the country. Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: "Beautiful Boy" tiptoes into a minefield, where it loses its nerve and remains frozen in its tracks, too timid to find a way back.
Fresh: Out of a premise horrifically familiar from tragedies at Columbine and Virginia Tech director Shawn Ku has crafted a film that will haunt you for a good long time.
Fresh: Painfully perceptive and relentlessly raw, this intimate observation of a couple in extremis plays out with such subdued intensity that, by the end, audiences will very likely feel as wrung out as its embattled stars.
Fresh: If the key performances in "Beautiful Boy" were any less honest, the film's half-formed suppositions would undo it utterly.

powerful movie
Not at all what i expected... i thought there would be more scenes and information with the son and what happened. This movie is not about the son's experience. The movie is about his parents and how they deal (or not deal) with the tragic events. The movie gives you a perspective that most people don't think about. Excelent movie, powerful, and thought provoking. Some people may find it boring because there is no action or scenes from the tragedy, but if you like drama's, this is a true drama that was greatly done.
An exercise in heartbreak
The situation in this movie is agonizing and so it is agony to watch. The acting is well done and the story is as true as I could expect. You may need to take some breaks, but watch it through. The ending was perfect.
Very Sad
This film is very different, the parents have to go through the unfortunate struggle of rebuilding and trying to get away from all the hate that follows them. There son who is very unhappy goes on a shooting spree at his college, his actions have left the family to live with the guilt and shame that they are never going to forget. This film will leave you in tears.
