Plot Summary
Aimee Teegarden (of TV's FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) stars as Nicole, a shy New York City high school student still mourning the drowning death of her beloved dad. But when Nicole is sent to California to spend the summer with the free-spirited grandmother she barely knows, she'll learn a shocking family secret she yearns to understand. Now on a quest to Baja Mexico, Nicole will discover friendship, romance, the thrill of surfing, and a link to her late father that could change her life forever.

Really Enjoyed It
Very nice family friendly surf movie. Brought back a lot of memories of my own surf trips. This is motivating me to to do a pacific coast highway trip this summer. I love the old Ford surf van. Epically the outdoor porch light mounted to the wall inside the van.
Disclaimer: The director and writer is my cousin David and I have been on several surf trips in that van. It almost always ran. David is a life long surfer and parts of several of his surf stories show up in the movie.

I enjoyed this film. It's not so much about surfing as it is about finding oneself. It's not anything like "the notebook" like one reviewer said and it's not like "soul surfer" either - and it's not even trying to be like either of those movies... And it's really annoying when people rate a movie based on the trailer - i think you should watch it before you review it. Anyway, I liked it and I didn't really get the PG-13 rating b/c there's nothing really bad in it... but I did learn that there are sea turtle poachers and that is something I never knew about... so sad really... but yeah, I like the movie... it moves pretty slowly but if you are in the mood for a slow moving drama - I say go for it. The music is nice and it's just a nice film. And it reminded me of road trips I'd take across HWY 50 Nevada in my VW camper van... so I guess I'm just partial to old cars and "dinosaur music"
