Plot Summary

Independent filmmaking at its best
Authenticity, storytelling and outstanding performances turn this independent gem into this generations gold standard for coming of age films.
Emory Cohen delivers a star making effort in the role of a troubled teen trying to break away from his circumstances and the rural Maine town in which the film is set.
Callan Mcauliffe has never been better as his counter part with a different backstory but the same dream.
Directors Aron Gaudet and Gita Pillapully who also co-wrote the script, prove they are on a fast track to bigger projects, as the story and each actor in this talented cast delivers the goods.
Aidan Gillen once again is at the top of his game as a local drug lord who creates more menace with a look that most actors do brandishing a loaded weapon.
The supporting players receive the material and they run with it. Delaney Williams and Timm Sharp share a subplot that shows them taking their skills to a different level.
Zoe Levin and Sarah Sutherland play instrumental roles in driving the plot forward and their both spot on in revealing a wide range of emotions.
Dripping with realism and actors precisely immersed in their characters, lead to one of the most gripping films I have seen in years.
It is a film I can't stop thinking about and one I am already looking forward to watching again...and again...and again.

Ever since I saw the premiere of this movie at TIFF, I have been patiently waiting for the chance to watch it again, and again..
With genuine northern Maine beauty to set the scene, Beneath the Harvest Sky is the story of two teenage boys trying to make a life for themselves in their small corner of the world. Dreams and hopes of leaving their town after graduation seem to get further and further away as they encounter struggles and unexpected set-backs along the way. While one works potato harvest to earn money, the other gets involved with his father's dangerous drug smuggling operation. Regardless of the pair's opposing views they remain by each other's side, a testimony to what true friendship and loyalty is all about. Joy, anger, and love are only a few of the many emotions that are brilliantly captured in this heart-wrenching film. Beneath the Harvest Sky will keep you immersed and wanting more right up until the very end, you certainly don't want to miss it!

I absolutely loved this movie! First saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival and I’ve got tickets to see it at Tribeca. The performances were raw, gripping and emotional. I walked out and couldn’t stop thinking about the characters, their struggles and what life is like in rural America. I highly recommend this coming of age movie to anyone who has dreamed of a better life. You could spend $5 at Starbucks or you could rent this movie. Choose the movie and support this amazing Indie flick and its cast and creators. You won’t be disappointed.
