Great Story, Mediocre Film
The novel Berserk is great and should legitimately be watched by any fan of the fantasy and horror genre. Because they have tried to cram the plot and details that take place over the course of 7 novels, the movie has a very rushed feel for anyone familiar with the plot. That is expected as the director and producer can only do as much as time allows them. The one thing that made the movie very subpar for me was the use of CGI. Some of the scenes look downright awful with the use of this newer technology to the point where it pulls you out from the story because it is so blatantly bad. It looks like it was animated for a local car dealership to entice you for their sales (seriously). All in all its still Berserk and is one of the best stories ever written and should be respected as such, but this movie has dropped the ball using a Hollywood budget (it was produced by Warner Brothers) which to me feels inexcusable.
Berserk
This movie is a must watch! Great movie remake of the original berserk anime. show I can't wait for the rest of the movies to be made!
**A Great Start**
The fans have spoken and now we can all breath with a sigh of relief knowing Berserk is finally getting it's respect in the form of an animated film trilogy. The story is familiar to fans of the TV series as well as the Manga but never has it been told with this amount of detail or fluid action. The real treat about this version is that the voices come straight from the US TV series which already earns an extra star for that alone. It may not be the continuation we were all hoping for but its "a great start". Enjoy the film and be patient because parts two and three will soon follow.
