Plot Summary
Based on the novel by acclaimed author Rudolfo Anaya, Bless Me, Ultima is a turbulent coming of age story about Antonio Marez (Luke Gonfalon), a young boy growing up in New Mexico during World War II. When a mysterious curandera named Ultima (Miriam Colon) comes to live with his family, she teaches him about the power of the spiritual world. As their relationship grows, Antonio begins to question the strict Catholic doctrine that he has been taught by his parents (Dolores Heredia & Benito Martinez). Through a series of mysterious and at times terrifying events Antonio must grapple with questions about his own destiny, and the relationship between good vs. evil and ultimately how to reconcile Ultima’s powers with those of the God of his church.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Bless Me, Ultima has its earnest heart - and setting - in the right place.
Fresh: Nearly as sacred as the Good Book itself in some circles, Rudolfo Anaya's Bless Me, Ultima has survived the leap to the bigscreen with much of its magic intact, thanks to a respectful if somewhat wooden adaptation by writer-director Carl Franklin.
Fresh: A deeply satisfying feat of storytelling, "Bless Me, Ultima" makes a difficult task look easy.
Rotten: Reminiscent of Billy Bob Thornton's "All the Pretty Horses" or Lasse Hallstrom's "The Shipping News" - literary adaptations that got the look right, while lacking the easy flow of the original work.

Beautifully made film
It's the story of a little boy's journey to his discovery of what is good and evil, and how those who are around us, through their love and example, have the power to make us make that journey safely and lovingly. I am going to see this movie time and time again.
Buena Pelicula...
Recomendada Muy Buena.
Stunning, beautiful
This movie doesn't only give you a life lesson on the eternal struggle of "good vs. evil", but shows you how beautiful life itself truly is.
