Plot Summary
Blessing is an emotionally charged drama about a young woman's struggle to reconcile family expectations with personal dreams. Randi is a 23 year-old free-spirit milking cows on her family's Wisconsin farm. Her passion to go to the ocean is thwarted by her parents' wish that she take over the farm. Complicating her decision to leave are Clovis, her 10 year-old brother and confidant, and Lyle, the local astrologer/milkman who offers her homespun spiritual and a chance for escape. Ranging from intimate family drama to tragedy in its most classic form, Blessing is a heart-rending portrait of the love, rage and hope that bind family life.

This movie is about the struggles of farming in America and the beauty of it and the tragedy of its demise. When a farm is sold its taxed out of existence. My favorite scene was the blessing of the animals and all the authentic characters. Melora Griffis was brilliant and why haven't I seen more of her? When the boy with the older sister plants a seed, you know who will stay and run the farm. Buy this film it is sure to become a cult classic. Its in the tradition of The Grapes of Wrath , or any Terrence Malick film.

"They don't make films like this anymore! I saw this film ten years ago and wondered where it went. Glad to see it resurface! Incredible performance by Melora Griffis who plays a daughter tyring to leave home but held back by a complicated mother-daughter relationship, an abusive father, and her protective devotion to a little brother. A true film! Highly recommend it!"
