Plot Summary
Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best man U.S. Intelligence has on the ground, in places where human life is worth no more than the information it can get you. In operations that take him around the globe, Ferris' next breath often depends on the voice at the other end of a secure phone line--CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe). Strategizing from a laptop in the suburbs, Hoffman is on the trail of an emerging terrorist leader who has orchestrated a campaign of bombings while eluding the most sophisticated intelligence network in the world. To lure the terrorist out into the open, Ferris will have to penetrate his murky world, but the closer Ferris gets to the target, the more he discovers that trust is both a dangerous commodity and the only one that will get him out alive.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Yes, there are a couple of chase scenes, but Scott rarely shifts into high gear.
Fresh: DiCaprio's solid, though I wonder if a real CIA agent could get away with looking so earnest every second. Crowe has the right idea, in addition to all the fun: Just throw it away, throw it away and pretty soon you build yourself a clever characterization
Fresh: Good solid far-fetched multiplex action-adventure fare in the Bondian mode, with awe-inspiring technology and just enough moral philosophizing laced through it to give the mind a little something to chew on.
Rotten: Just because it's really dense and layered doesn't mean it's good.

Body of Lies (3.5 mics)
Ridley Scott's most recent film essentially provides inevidable propaganda regarding authorities, specifically the C.I.A. amongst others yet lacks a considerable amount of realism and an ideally realistic narrative regarding the individuals involved. Both Leonardo Dicaprio and Russell Crowe deliver excellent performances as William Mohahan's script contains realistic dialogue and overall a well adapted screenplay (of which whom wrote the adapted screenplay for Martin Scorsese's The Departed and Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven), yet has a few notable flaws in comparison to his previous work. Body of Lies ranks from my perspective to be somewhat of a dissapointment from not necessarily Ridley Scott's direction, nor from Leonardo Dicaprio or Russell Crowe's performances, not from William Monahan's adapted screenplay but the initial storyline and the film's political ambition.
Unbelievable
This is one of my favorite movies of 2008. Excellent movie.Very good acting and action. The story was great too. I would defiantly see this movie if u liked Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, and Blood Diamond. This is a great movie. Crowe and Decaprio both brought their A games.
To Jesse B
This movie was made by the director of Black Hawk Down. How is that independent? Both main characters are HUGE! This is not an indie film lol.
