Bonheoffer openly challenged his church to stand with the Jews in their time of need, and eventually joined a plot to kill Hitler.

Inspiring, but...

My 4 star rating is based on the inspiring life of Bonhoeffer and what the film aspired to be.

However, parts of the film were not well-crafted. Source photos were often out of focus and foolishly the camera zoomed in on these. The voice used for Bonhoeffer's writings was that of actor Klaus Maria Brandauer who was approaching 60 when the film was made. His voice hardly suited the young Bonhoeffer. In addition, the voice was often barely audible above the background music making it difficult to understand. This is especially true in one scene when voice is at the same volume as a choir singing Silent Night in the background.

Worth seeing for the story told, but technically flawed to point that I needed to rewind several parts in an attempt to hear what was being said.
