Plot Summary

Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Whoopi Goldberg ("Racing Stripes," "Ghost"), Golden Globe-winner Drew Barrymore ("50 First Dates," the "Charlie's Angels" features) and Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Mary-Louise Parker (TV's "Weeds," "Red Dragon") accidentally commit a crime, then end up on the lam in this road comedy. They embark on a cross-country journey that helps them develop something they've never really known before: a sense of belonging and friendship. Co-starring Matthew McConaughey ("Failure to Launch," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"), Academy Award-winner Estelle Parsons (TV's "Empire Falls," TV's "Roseanne") and directed by Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Herbert Ross ("My Blue Heaven," "Steel Magnolias"). The Hollywood Reporter calls this an "irresistible blend of laughter and tears... a richly textured script that is strongly character driven, sensitive and plain-out funny."

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: The three women are so spirited and funny -- so emotionally keyed into all the hearts and flowers -- that they give the movie their own kind of truth. – Peter Rainer, Los Angeles Times, Jan 28, 2006

Fresh: Goldberg and Parker are extraordinary. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Sep 25, 2002

Rotten: Roos and Ross (and I promise never to put those names together again) are so busy jerking the audience from wacky to teary, and back again, they seem blithely unaware of the howling melodrama of it all. – Desson Thomson, Washington Post, Sep 25, 2002

Fresh: An engagingly acted, likable, fried green Thelma & Louise. – Rita Kempley, Washington Post, Sep 25, 2002

Customer Reviews

It is unfortunate

That most people have not (obviously) seen and will not see this film. It's, by leaps and bounds, Whoopi's best work and one of my all time favorite films. "What do you mean, did you hurt him? You hit him with a bat!" lol

Love

This is an amazing movie I love when whoopi sings lol

Whoopi's at her best

This was ahead of its time, and is still awesome.
