Transformative moment
I saw this film at the Film Forum in NYC when it first came out. I wasn't a Beach Boys fan when I went into the theater, but afterwards, I felt that I had never heard their music and had to own all of it right that minute. I spent the next few years periodically immersing myself in not only the music (and producing) of Brian Wilson, but the tragic story of his family. Don Was did a great job of capturing Brian in very lucid moments, and I think about this film whenever I hear a BB song.
