Plot Summary

Experience the laugh-out-loud comedy Bringing Down The House. The hilarious Steve Martin (Father Of The Bride) and Academy Award® nominee Queen Latifah (Best Supporting Actress, 2002, Chicago) star with Eugene Levy (American Pie) and Betty White (The Proposal) in this hysterical culture clash hit. When Peter Sanderson (Martin), a divorced, uptight lawyer, meets Charlene (Latifah), a street-smart soul sister who’s just escaped from prison, his life is turned upside down. Crazy complications abound, and Peter soon discovers he may need Charlene just as much as she needs him. It’s a houseful of fun your family will enjoy again and again.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It's a sorry situation when actors as talented and funny as Queen Latifah and Steve Martin waste their efforts in an offensive exercise that feels like a bad sitcom. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: A Film in Which Steve Martin Will Appear in Full Hip-Hop Drag With Appropriate Slang for Not Less Than Six Minutes. – Jane Dark, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: This is strictly formula stuff, made worse by an utterly careless depiction of the characters, whose road to friendship is neither believable nor remotely accounted for. – Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle, Jul 30, 2003

Rotten: Like one of those overbearing relatives who bursts into the living room, invited or not, and shatters your domestic tranquility with a barrage of soggy platitudes and moldy jokes, both of which he's sure you've never heard before. – Gene Seymour, Newsday, Jun 24, 2010

LOVE IT

I have always loved this movie!!! Queen Latifah is so talented and is such an amazing actor! You'll love this movie! It's so funny :)

Martin and Latifah are a Hit!

I absolutely love this movie! The storyline flowed and the right actors were casted to make it worth purchasing. I forced my boring aunts to watch it only to have them loving it when the credits rolled. Do not overlook this movie due to its ratings. I hope Martin and Latifah will do another movie in the near future.

Still to expensive!

Why is this still so high in price? This movie is 11 yrs old and it still the same price as when it first come out, by now it should have come down. I love this movie and I want to buy it but I will not pay this price until comes down, I would have gave it 5 stars if it wasn't for the price, so please reduce the price and then I will buy it. Thank you!
