Plot Summary

Thoughtfully filmed and carefully handled, CAMP VICTORY, AFGHANISTAN does not advocate or condemn, but simply tells the story of the difficult, tedious, and necessary task of building the Afghan Army to fight against an increasingly powerful insurgency.

A Side Most Will Never See

One of the best movies besides restrepo on afghanistan for people who have never served in the armed forces or been in an active combat zone. This is just a piece of the sacrifice our men/women make everyday in combat.

MUST SEE!!!

I first saw this film at an international film festival in Nepal. I was instantly blown away by the real and "non-glossy" look that this film takes at what is really going on in Afghanistan. I have to admit that I was expecting a "military bashing" or a "we are so great" type of film… I am glad to admit that my fears were not founded. This film does not have an agenda, except to convey the experiences of the director, Carol Dysinger. Unlike most TV shows and movies that call themselves "documentaries", this film shows the good and the bad, the struggles, and the humanity that each and everyone needs to see.

I was privileged enough to get to meet the director during the film festival. Her experiences during the 2 years she lived with the troops are portrayed in this film. She manages to tear down all your preconceived notions as to what you think the US and international forces are doing over there and shows you what she saw. Also realize that she was not on the front lines. She was not trying to make the evening news or make a name for herself with the media. She was in the trenches for the long haul. I doubt you will see any of the reporters from the big name news organizations with the same group of soldiers in training, outside of the fighting zones, for 2 YEARS!

Have you ever wondered why we are in Afghanistan? Then see this movie and learn more about the history of the war, this area, and its people.
