Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: The unevenness of the acting comes as a kind of blessing, though, since the rest of the movie is so thoroughly homogenized.
Rotten: The Village People, along with ex-Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner, have a long way to go in the acting stakes.
Rotten: A wretchedly sub-standard score from Jacques Morali and production numbers of exceptional tackiness round things off.

A late 70s Time Capsule
It's good because it is so bad. The look and the sound sums up that time period. It was a giant bomb when it came out. Pretty much ruined a bunch of the people involved's careers. Yet 30 years later, at least if you were a teenager back then, it is wonderful. The plot and dialogue is awful, but the music, clothing, and street scenes are fantastic. Plus: Steve Guttenberg in short shorts roller skating through NYC. Don't expect too much and you will be richly rewarded.
Pure camp awesomeness!
Offer it in HD and/or widescreen and I'll gladly double-dip.
