Plot Summary
Since 1979 Clayton Patterson has dedicated his life to documenting the final era of raw creativity and lawlessness in New York City's Lower East Side, a neighborhood famed for art, music and revolutionary minds. Traversing the outside edge he's recorded a dark and colorful society, from drag to hardcore, heroin, homelessness, political chaos and ultimately gentrification. His odyssey from voyeur to provocateur reveals that it can take losing everything you love to find your own significance.

itunes trailer not correct
GREAT movie. I'd recommend going to the film's website and viewing the real trailer though. itunes just has a brief clip from the movie that isn't at all representative of the scope of the film.
Clayton Patterson Rules
This is a great documentary about the courageous, outlaw photographer, Clayton Patterson, shooting on the lower East Side in the 1970s right through to the late 1990s. If you love NYC or photography, you'll appreciate what this man did for history and truth. If you're a freedom of speech person, you'll respect the film's message. If you are a gentrified, yuppified, oh-so-self-satisfied, wah-hoo, you get to see what you do to the world with force of your delusions. If you are a woman, you will smile at the self-effacing work of Elsie Rensaa, who quietly protects and supports Clayton Patterson and gets little of the credit. She is always there, but Clayton gets the renown. She seems alright with it. What amazing footage. What a blast.
