Plot Summary
Take a ride with young church organist Mary Henry (Candace Hilligoss) as she encounters a world where the difference between the living and the dead is impossible to discern. Each step plunges her deeper into the nightmare of the Carnival of Souls. Herk Harvey's 1962 classic cult horror movie was the precursor to such eerie films as The Shining and The Sixth Sense. Now it's fully restored and presented here in beautiful color! For pure skin-crawling spookiness, Carnival of Souls is in a class by itself.

Fresh: Occasionally a feature film emerges from the midwest, although this is the first ever out of Lawrence, Kans, where a group of commercial film pros veered off into a try at producing theatrical entertainment.
Fresh: Carnival of Souls works well enough as chill-up-the-spine cinema.
Fresh: It depends on crisp black-and-white photography, atmosphere and surprisingly effective acting.
Rotten: There isn't very much here to sustain interest.
