Plot Summary
Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci star in director Martin Scorsese's riveting look at how blind ambition, white-hot passion and 24-karat greed toppled an empire. Las Vegas 1973 is the setting for this fact-based story about the Mob's multi-million dollar casino operation where fortunes and lives were made and lost with a roll of the dice.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Of all the bravura visual effects in Martin Scorsese's dazzlingly stylish Casino, it's a glimpse of ordinary people that delivers the greatest jolt.
Fresh: [Stone] seems to be trying to enter a more passionate movie, where a neurotic gold digger could at least have a good time. By the end of Casino, for all its craftsmanly bravura, you may want to join her.
Fresh: [A] Vegas masterpiece.
Rotten: It's not the actors' fault that no one is able to break through the film's gorgeous but chilly surface. You watch Casino with respect and appreciation, reveling in its documentary sense of detail.

Scorsese In His Element (4.5 mics)
Casino along with it's little brother Goodfellas, are definetly comebacks for Scorsese in comparison to his unique but very different films in the 80's. Casino is like visually seeing Goodfellas from De Niro's point of view. Sharon Stone portrayed one of the most malign harrowing female roles in the history of cinema. Like Goodfellas it follows a protagonist who gets deeper into a very dangerous, dark line of organized crime, and it's also Scorsese's second callaboration with writer Nicholas Pilleggi of which he previously callaborated with on Goodfellas. This is undenyably one of my most favorite Martin Scorsese movies but nowhere near as significant as his earlier fims like Taxi Driver, Mean Streets & Raging Bull. Buy this, but in an actual store.
Great Mob Movie
Casino is another Scorsese Italian Mafia movie. It documents the true story of two old friends in the mob, moving to Las Vegas to run an itialian mob casino. It has some qualities related to Goodfellas, and has 2 of the stars in it (Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci). Though GoodFellas is a better movie, Casino comes very close to the same rank.
Casino
Hands down, Best Mob Movie EVER. stays very close to the book and this film deserves way more credit than it gets. the movie follows the time period to a T and comes across as extremely authentic. who would have thought that this actually happened back in the 70s. rent or buy, the movie is a must see
