Plot Summary

CASS (Nonso Anozie) grew up in a time before political correctness and was forced to endure racist bullying on a daily basis, until one day when the years of pent up anger came out in a violent burst. CASS found through violence the respect he never had and became addicted to the buzz of fighting. His way of life finally caught up with him when he was shot three times at point blank range in an attempted assassination on his life. His inner strength somehow managed to keep him alive but he was left with a dilemma; whether to seek vengeance as the street had taught him, or renounce his violent past. This is the extraordinary, true story of his life. Directed by Jon S. Baird. From IFC Films.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: It never fully convinces you that he deserves a movie. – Tim Robey, Daily Telegraph, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: It is a bit better than many recent lipsmacking movies on similar subjects... but there's still the same self-serving, self-sentimentalising macho nonsense. – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Though the narrative is saggy and you feel there's nowhere left to go after the first hour, a much-needed dash of class from Jon S Baird's direction helps lift 'Cass' above its oft-reactionary genre brethren. – David Jenkins, Time Out, Jun 24, 2010

I like the fact that its based on a true story. This movie highlights the golden age of football hooliganism.
