Great short

This short film killed it on the festival circuit and for good reason. Just a perfect little gem.

Cataplexy

I am not a huge fan of short films in general - most are just plain awful. It's hard enough in a feature-length film to create characters that an audience likes, and cares enough about to become invested, and it's that much more difficult in a short film. And it's especially difficult to create laughs in a short film without lazily relying on old stand-bys like physical humor (pratfalls, anything hitting the groin area, etc...) or vulgarity. Remarkably, despite being a very short film (well under ten minutes), Cataplexy manages to create characters you like and are invested in, and also manages to generate humor in the least lazy of ways - with a smart, funny premise, with smart, funny dialog, and with an obviously talented group of people, both behind and in front of the camera.

I don't want to spoil anything about this film - just take a chance on it, you won't be disappointed! As I said earlier, I am not a fan of the short film genre. Pixar seems to get them right, almost always. And Cataplexy gets it right. Kudos to the filmmakers - and buy this film, it's great!!

Just fantastic.

This is great! Exactly what a short film should be - sweet and simple. It's no wonder it's done so well at festivals. Definitely worth a watch.
