Cave Digger

Having visited one of these caves in about 1996 or 97, making a point to visit it during the Dixon Studio Tours, taking friends and even spending a night in that particular cave on full moon.... I was thrilled to get to see the work in progress, in this documentary, and the man who digs these beautiful "cathedrals".
Shel and Liz's cave is truly a labor of love and spirit channeled, great (!), work of art. It's one of the best things around here, as well as one of the best places I've EVER been to. The feeling is just amazing, the wonderment of it's spontaneity, the magic you feel when inside it. This particular one has handmade tiles in the tub and sinks and sconces made by the artist, Shel Neymark. The doors are also made by one of their friends, and they are fabulous, hobbit like, imaginative! The whole property is magical, down by the river in this beautiful canyon, which is lit in shades of green and gold in Fall. New Mexico draws artists to her bosom and the creativity that blooms from those who have a bit of land, some means to create living art homes, is amazing. There are others, here, that have these dream homes.... but "Cave Digger" is wonderful! Seeing Ra, feverishly sculpting these inner works, hearing his philosophy, and to know about his life, is a real inspiration. There are really people in our world, today, who are master craftsmen, which is, maybe, rare, anymore. Thank you for sharing it!

This is a must see

It’s really interesting to see how this gentleman has pursued his passion. I rarely buy downloadable movies, but I am certainly glad I saw a writeup on this one. The only way it was available was via download.
