Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Throughout the movie, Ms. Thurman's facial expressions suggest a peevish spoiled child about to stomp her feet and throw a full-scale tantrum. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, Apr 7, 2011

Fresh: Yes, it's been done before (and better). But Uma lends it a sly and sexy spark. – Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly, Sep 19, 2011

Rotten: Despite a few grace notes and mildly clever twists, this handsomely produced indie is such a grating turnoff throughout its first third that its minor virtues may be discovered only by insomniac latenight cable viewers. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Mar 8, 2011

Fresh: If the scenario is unconvincing, debuting writer-director Max Winkler has a feel for the dynamics of this kind of ritualized yet informal social gathering, and his affection for his characters is clear. – Sheri Linden, Los Angeles Times, Apr 7, 2011

Customer Reviews

Not for everyone apparently...

This movie was absolutely fantastic. It was witty and dramatic and had enough dry humor to keep every scene relevant. The acting is superb and each character is portrayed perfectly. Each actor played their part to the utmost detail and leaves you wanting more more more!! It makes you want to jump into the screen and be apart of their lives. I don't understand what the first reviewer was saying with the bad acting and bad movie schtick but this is NOT one to be missed!

Uma Dooma

The kid from Sky High falls for Uma - if she could act this might have been remotely interesting (actually if anyone in this movie could act that would be saying something) - Boring, bad and utterly pretentious - I wish Uma could act

finally a new director i can care about!

this winkler kid sure knows his stuff, what a power punch debut this was. Someone's career i can finally get behind. not since election have i seen such a funny debut. the music, the acting, the way it was shot... it's a wonderful piece. i could really relate to these kids, and i think deep inside, everyone can. we all think of ourselves as something we are not. our images of ourselves vs. the reality, and this movie is more than about just that. it questions our very purpose on the earth, while at the same time making me laugh, and cry.

p.s. his short film king of central park was just as good
