Plot Summary
A young police officer is transferred from Seoul to a small village in the countryside for duty when he jokingly checked the box to be deployed “anywhere.” Arriving at the village, he encounters a bumbling police force who is working with a special detective to resolve some recent murders. As the bodies add up, it becomes clear that the gruesome deaths are attributed to a beast of an animal with a voracious appetite for human flesh. A famous hunter and his team are called in to track and destroy the man-eater. During their tracking expedition, they are confronted by a boar of massive size and strength, which they discover may be a result of experimentation during wartimes. Unprepared and unarmed for taking down the mutant creature, the group must disband as the hunters become the hunted.

Craziest monster movie in recent years-- and it's from Korea!
You folks are missing out a lot if you love monster movies and have not checked out CHAWZ yet. "Z" at the end of the title is redundant, as it is originally known as CHAW in Korean (supposed to be a Chungchong Province dialect for an animal trap-- I suspect also it is a misspelling of the English word CHOW). Anyway, even among the REALLY minor subgenre of man-eating pig movies CHAWZ stands out as the craziest. It really makes you wonder what the director was imbibing during the shoot (the movie does feature a local madwoman who apparently partakes some mushroom vapor). It's too dopey to be an effective thriller but there are so many weird and unique goings-on in this movie you will be thoroughly entertained. Check out a police guy attempting to go mano-a-mano inside a construction machine with the giant boar, and deciding he is no Signourney Weaver! Check out Baek Man-bae the hunter's bulldog telepathically (?) communicating with him in Russian (?!?)! Check out an impromptu autopsy on one of the killer pigs, where a whole chicken gets dragged out of his belly! I mean, this movie is.... crazy. So here it is... it;s not THE HOST by a wide margin but if you love monster movie cliches being mercilessly sent up you will fall down laughing and rolling on the floor.
