Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Cinderella Man is a movie about the indomitability of the American spirit, and those are always far less interesting than movies about actual people. – Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: Howard's movie skillfully delivers that primal, heart-pounding satisfaction that is the promise of all boxing tales. – David Ansen, Newsweek, Jul 31, 2008

Fresh: Just an O.K. vintage fight movie. – Andrew Sarris, New York Observer, Apr 25, 2007

Fresh: The thing that ultimately makes it a classic in the pantheon of American movies is the way it reveals something about the idealism, strength, grace and grit of the American Dream. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, Jun 24, 2010

great movie but it's WAY more then a boxing film!!!

I loved this movie but boxing is just the backdrop to the real story which is going through the depresstion era with very little money and just trying to put food on your family table that's what this movie is truley about. I saw it in history class and that's the biggest thing that I got out of it, ,just look past the boxing scens themselves don't get me wrong the boxing scens are great but their is way more in here then just that.

The Kind Of Movie That We Need More Often

This movie brings a smile to my face. I feel that it was immensely underrated and still is. We need more stories that inspire, show love and passion for dreams. That a husband would do anything for his family even in great desperate times. These themes and actions are what makes this a wonderful film. This generation needs to get off mtv, for example, and start watching things that actually means something. Though the language doesn't bode well but probably serves the time period.

Great Movie!!!

I absolutely loved this movie!!!!! I give this movie two thumbs WAY WAY up. I found that it was really inspirational, and the plot, simple. A man trying with all his heart to make his family live through the Depression.
