Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Even if the film is no substitute for the real thing, it is at least an effective advertisement. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Dec 20, 2012

Rotten: "Worlds Away" functions solely as some sort of bargain sampler platter appetizer, never proving it has a real reason of its own to exist. – Mark Olsen, Los Angeles Times, Dec 20, 2012

Fresh: A negligible narrative takes nothing away from the heart-stopping beauty of the visuals in this 3D spectacular. – Megan Lehmann, Hollywood Reporter, Dec 19, 2012

Rotten: It's a big promo reel, and not a carefully disguised one. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Dec 20, 2012

IF YOU LOVE THE CIRQUE, YOU'LL LOVE THIS MOVIE

If you've ever dreamed about attending one of the seven Cirque du Soleil shows on the Las Vegas strip, well, now you can. "Worlds Away" is pretty much what you'd expect it to be: an eye-popping showcase offering evidence of the troupe's acrobatic skills, even if it doesn't quite match the same thrilling experience of seeing them live. Still, watching this movie is just about the next best thing. Full of high-flying aerial maneuvers, eye-popping visuals, upbeat circus music, and expert camerawork that at times makes you feel like you're part of the action, this flick does a great job immersing its viewers into the many unique worlds of Cirque du Soleil, giving them a short glimpse of what each individual show has to offer. I have to admit, I ended up enjoying the movie a lot more than I thought I would, especially considering its simplistic, easily predictable love story. Sure, it's basically a 90-minute-long advertisement for the circus company, but you can't deny the whimsical entertainment value that comes along with it. Overall, this is a worthwhile movie to watch if you simply want to shut your brain off for a bit and watch some amazing acrobatic stunts. I suggest giving it a rent.

Sleep Well

This was the longest commercial ever filmed. To even say it's a "Big Hollywood Feature Film" is a joke. No plot and no storyline. Typical for the live shows and that formula works but not for a movie. Visually, it was nice but that blank expression on the main character's face through the entire movie really got old quick. Stick with the live shows and leave the film making to the professionals.

Beautiful Film!!

To see what these athletic performers can do is Amazing!! This is an Inspiring, Captivating film and show!
