Surprised find

I wasn't sure what to expect, as many of the "non-tier1) movies have been lacking. But, this was good. Good story, recognizable actors, very good action. Enjoy

So terrible

This has to be the worst movie ever produced or written... I am surprised that they even got a studio to make it.

Don't Bother

First of all, set aside your expectations on special effects. It was intended for a TV audience and makes an attempt at special effects in such a way you really can't fault it on that alone. There is too much focus on special effects in the movie industry, in general. This movie has lousy special effects in certain scenes, nice (for what it is) in others. Overall, it's a wash to me.

The script is much less impressive, even if you set aside most of the science, specifically, the highly contrived gimmicks, like the power going on and off at just the right time to move characters into the correct location "by chance." That makes it too unbelievable.

Or, another gimmick is a one-of-a-kind radio that can communicate with other planets.

Or get this, a car falls on the guy who is shooting at one of our heroes who then say, "We need to get out of here now." What kind of dialog is that? They should have said, "How convenient, hope the cars don't fall on us now!" ... Like the car that falls right where they were parked seconds after they peal away from the area.

Or, oh, hey, they won't be able to get into the secret bunker without security clearance. But oh, hey, the guy's friend is dead on the highway, so they can take her badge and get in. Good thing her car landed not far from where they wrecked.

But the worst gimmick is that a whole planet (Mercury) is able to break orbit and arrive at our own orbit within minutes of a "solar event" due solely to a mysterious phenomenon called "magnetism." It's convenient to the story but just too unbelievable.

Another thing that cannot be overlooked is that as close as Mercury got to Earth in the end, this alone would have meant the End of the World, right there. No need for any collision at all.

Even if you somehow overlook these things, the story is just too big to be told in this way.
