Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: It turns into the same silly stuff we've seen before, a dish of revenge served not so much cold as reheated.
Rotten: Possibly worth seeing if you are 13.
Rotten: Megaton blows things up, demolishes a fruit market, and throws in some parkour foot-chases as if he's completing a checklist.
Rotten: Luc Besson keeps ralphing up scripts about beautiful lady killers, but that doesn't mean you have to keep seeing them.

A REVENGE THRILLER WITH ITS UPS AND DOWNS
I love Zoe Saldana. She's, in my opinion, one of the most diverse and convincing actresses in Hollywood today. From action blockbusters ("Avatar", "Star Trek") to provocative dramas ("Takers", "Vantage Point"), she's practically done it all. So when I saw the trailer for her first movie as a lead character, I was both thrilled and apprehensive. Would she be able to take on an action film with a basic premise on her own and turn it into truly unforgettable movie event? The answer turned out to be both a yes and a no. While Zoe did prove she has what it takes to be the next Milla Jovovich as Cataleya, her so-so acting and mediocre dialogue took away a lot of her character's credibility. Plus, there really wasn't any emotional connection to be made with her. The only thing we're supposed to feel sympathetic toward is the fact that her parents were brutally killed when she was a little girl. That's it. I know I shouldn't be complaining about such a minor thing like this, but it just seemed like there wasn't enough of an emotional backstory for me to really root for Cataleya and her plot to take out revenge on the man who murdered her loved ones. Aside from that slight issue, even I have to admit that the character development was shoddy, the writing was atrocious, and the filmmaking was too erratic than it needed to be. But was the film all bad? Heck no. Most of the action scenes were often quite ludicrous, yet extremely fun to watch at the same time. In addition, there were so many guns and fist-fights in this movie, it barely allowed you to catch your breath. So overall, "Colombiana", although somewhat forgettable in its acting and storytelling departments, ended up being an explosive vengeance-themed flick filled with intense action sequences and heart-pounding thrills. It may not be the most original film in its small genre, but it's still worth a good rent!
Awesome Movie
I loved this movie. I saw it in theaters and was drawn in right away. I don't always go for the "blow-em-up" action flick but this one had me wanting to be her when I grew up and I'm 27 years old... =D Regardless, to me it has a good plot, good fight scenes, and good effects. Loved it and I will buy it.
Great Movie: Ignore the Pompous Critics
Rotten Tomatoes and some of critics are just brutal and unrealistic. This is a great movie in the revenge theme genre. It has decent actors, clever plot lines, nice visuals and it leaves you satisfied; it's like taking a good amusement park ride that keeps you entertained.
