Plot Summary

This gritty debut feature from David Pomes stars Hell on Wheels’ Anson Mount and Nikita bad guy you love to hate, Xander Berkeley in an unflinching look at the complete breakdown of a family due to meth addiction. After a stint in prison, Sonny (Berkeley) returns to his home in East Texas, determined to repair his relationship with his teenage son. Standing in his way is his brother (Mount) who has turned their family home into a meth lab. As Sonny attempts to make things right with his son and help his niece get beyond her life in a crumbling meth lab, desperation leads to tragedy, heartbreak and madness. A FilmBuff presentation.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: What we need is for the writer and director, David Pomes, to wallow less in aimless dialogue and lowlife sordidness. What we need is a point. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Dec 15, 2011

Fresh: This rough-edged, low-budget drama impresses with spot-on performances, perfect-pitch dialogue and an overall sense that something bad might happen at any moment, unless something worse happens first. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Dec 12, 2011

Rotten: Rather than viewing moral chaos from the eye of a storm, director David Pomes watches his movie blow off into the storm itself. – Nick Pinkerton, Village Voice, Dec 13, 2011

Rotten: There's rarely a point when we believe in any of these characters, the bleakly romanticized setting or their increasingly ugly story. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Dec 16, 2011
