Plot Summary

Cowboys + Indians is a tragic love story set in the modern west. It follows the life of Angel, a beautiful but damaged Paiute Indian woman who was lead to live desperately on the edge after having been raped. Earning a living in a topless bar called the Round-Up, Angel tries her best to raise her son, Gas, the ill-begotten son of the tragic rape. When Gas is fourteen he runs away from home and is picked up by a hard-up cowboy, Twisty, who was present on the fateful night 14 years ago. Twisty relates the tragic romance he had with his mother, elucidating many unanswered questions for the boy. The cowboy and the boy form a bond that leads them back to Angel where once re-united, and with the truth brought to light, a possible way forward is revealed.

Hard watch

There's not one likable character in this film. I realize it is supposed to take place in an oppressed culture, but they try to force it on you with bad accents and too much profanity all around. I don't believe their love-story at all. It's more about lust, confirmed by the lyrics in the last song "she left me with my --- in my hand". And to resort to not one but TWO coincidences in the end of the film, where everyone just happens to find each other at the same place at the same time for a very confusing grand finale... made me laugh outloud! But I don't think I was supposed to

Cowboys and Indians

So happy I found this film. Great story well told. The cinematography is absolutely stunning. A riveting story that will keep you guessing. Ian McCrudden's acting feels so real. The soundtrack is great too. Really enjoyed this one.

Cowboys & Indians

Not for sissies. Powerful film, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy. Compelling. Excellent movie. Sticking to my ribs the next day and who knows for how long. To my beleaguered sensibilities. More of McCrudden’s presentations of the realities we’d rather ignore or sublimate. If you like his Mr. Smith Gets a Hustler, as I did, then you’ll probably like this movie. Definitely worth eight bucks and the hour and a half.
