Plot Summary
An aspiring musician becomes one of the most famous bartenders in New York in this high-spirited comedy-drama. Small-town girl Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo) dreams of making a name for herself as a singer and songwriter, so she moves to New York City in hopes of landing her big break. Needing to support herself until stardom rolls around, she takes a job as a barmaid at a new nightspot called Coyote Ugly, where the owner Lil (Maria Bello) and the staff of attractive young women dance on the bar, flirt with the mostly male clientele, sing along with the jukebox, and goad the customers into matching them shot for shot. Soon, local media pick up on the bar's success, turning the staff into unexpected celebrities, a situation that presents its own set of problems. Coyote Ugly also stars John Goodman as Violet's straight-laced father, Adam Garcia as a customer Violet becomes involved with, and Tyra Banks, Melanie Lynskey, Bridget Moynahan, and Izabella Miko as the barmaids; action-film titan Jerry Bruckheimer produced.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A movie that's the 'follow your dream' equivalent of singing karaoke along with a DVD of Flashdance.
Rotten: The result is underwelming.
Rotten: Its view of women as objectified but unavailable sex toys is so retrograde it would be maddening if the movie weren't such an utter piece of fluff so conceptually barren it might as well be a music video.
Rotten: Does Jerry Bruckheimer have the same nagging feeling of deja vu as he compares each new screenplay to those that have gone before?

Shot at fame, only from the bar tops!
I loved this movie. Basic plot has been seen before: Daddy's little girl wants a shot at fame, heads to the city of bright lights, finds disapointment, dead ends, hardtimes. Eventually luck turns, and she finds success, love and a happy ending. Simple enough plot, but with a new twist. Money comes in the form of being a bartender/entertainer at Coyote Ugly. Romance and Success are eventually found there also. And daddy accepts his little girls choices! Good entertaining film, that has great music and will want to make you get up on your kitchen table and join along.
Not the Same
Just to let everyone know if you want to buy this movie there is an added seen that you might not know about. A sex seen and I didnt realize that it was even in the movie and now I do. So if you dont want your kids or youself to watch "light porn" dont buy this movie!
One on my favorites
This is one of the best movies made. I don't thinks it's completely appropriate for young kids, because they will take the wrong message from the movie. Other than this, the movie has great morals and is very well done. Definitely not what I thought it would be when I heard of it, but even better. I suggest this for anyone over the age of 12!
