Plot Summary

Fate steps in and brings together two high school seniors from opposite sides of the track in this sexy, fun, and energetic story of first love. Nicole (Kirsten Dunst, Bring It On) is the 17-year-old troubled daughter of a wealthy congressman who never met a rule she didn't break. Carlos (hot newcomer Jay Hernandez) is an A-student with big dreams who endures a two-hour bus ride every morning to attend high school in an upscale L.A. neighborhood. Their innocent flirtations quickly develop into passionate love, but Nicole's self-destructive behavior threatens their relationship and puts Carlos' promising future in jeopardy. Will their intense passion keep them together despite the objections of their families, or will Carlos be forced to plan his future ... without Nicole? Surprises lie at every turn in this wildly seductive and critically acclaimed drama.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Dunst, in her finest performance yet, has now transcended her fellow teen stars. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: A nifty piece of teenage romantic piffle, it combines two strong and attractive performances with a shameless 'they live in two different worlds' plot line to amiably entertaining effect. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: As overproduced as a Super Bowl soft-drink commercial, so much so that even its potentially insightful moments seem like movie fakery. – Amy Taubin, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: Even when the movie is bad -- which it is in its abrupt, mismanaged, final-act attempt to cram in moments of forgiveness and clarity -- it's addictively so. – Wesley Morris, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 18, 2002

It's a Fave

awesome movie. a good kirsten dunst flick, although one cannot help but want to shower her and put her in a bra.

A Crazy Kind of Beautiful

An interesting, touching, and surprising movie, "Crazy/Beautiful" is one of, if not the best, teenage dramas to have been released in the last 10 years. The only weak link in this film is Kirsten Dunst's acting. Her performance is unconvincing during many of the dramatic moments, but fortunately, it doesn't take away from the movie too much. This movie was an undeserved flop, perhaps because it was a little too heavy for the average teenage audience, but it is a gem, and ought to be regarded as a classic.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

It is so GREAT! Though at first the begining can be slow and dull but it gets so much better towards the middle and the ending. Some parts you can't stand and others you just love! On a scale of 1-10 this movie totally ranks a 10!
