Plot Summary
CRIME AFTER CRIME tells the dramatic story of the legal battle to free Debbie Peagler, a woman imprisoned for over a quarter century due to her connection to the murder of the man who abused her. Her story takes an unexpected turn two decades later when two rookie attorneys, with no background in criminal law, step forward to take her case. Through their perseverance, they bring to light long-lost witnesses, new testimonies from the men who committed the murder, and proof of perjured evidence. Filming with exclusive access in and out of prison for over five years, filmmaker Yoav Potash tells an unforgettable story of a relentless quest for justice.

Fresh: [The] moral outrage is magnificent, swelling from hushed to howling without the help of narration or posturing from the unfailingly dignified Ms. Peagler or her quietly dedicated lawyers.

Life changing experience
Once you see this movie, you will never look at our prison system the same way again. This is a movie about the human spirit, the willingness to fight for truth, justice AND the American way! A real triumph by Yoav Potash!
Incredible access to a powerful and important story
This independent film provides a rare and intimate look at the legal battle to free someone who has been wronged by the criminal justice system. It is more dramatic and emotionally powerful than anything I've seen in years. I don't want to spoil anything, but it has several significant plot twists and the people in it are absolutely riveting. The music is pretty good too, much better than most movie music.
Unpleasant Company
The essential truth presented in this woeful tale has less to do with our prison system than it has to do with the fact that ignorance breeds more ignorance. I cannot believe that our putative heroine (i.e. victim) -- in spite of her young age at the time she arranged for her "boyfriend's" murder -- had no idea where the jerk's flashy junk jewelry, tacky clothing and dirty money came from. There's not an admirable, or innocent, character playing a part in this story. If you want to spend some time in the company of unpleasant people, then by all means rent this film.
