Plot Summary
The true story of novelist Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, who retreated in 1928 to an isolated citrus grove in order to write. Leaving behind her comfortable New York city life - and her marriage - she faced the backwoods alone. Her experiences in the swampy scrub country and the lives of her rustic neighbors became the subjects of her books and in the land and the people she found inspiration and love.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Somehow, Mr. Ritt manages to use this very artificiality in the service of an optimism that is very much his own.
Rotten: It's an uncompelling, yet warm, tale which lightly skips over the woman's travails by illustrating a series of vignettes of rural humanity.
Fresh: The script may take some liberties with the facts, but when the resulting movie is this likeable you soon cease to care.

Cross Creek
This is a great movie! Enjoyed the setting and diverse characters. A journey of introspection of what is TRULY life and what we expect from it.
Cross creek
This was such a wonderful story. I am from Florida and my husband and I visited cross creek and the house where she loved. She was a very courageous woman during a time when women did not leave their husbands especially to pursue their own dreams. Rawlings embraced the life she had at cross creek and became enmeshed in the lives of the people who lived there. And she also found love from a man who appreciated her spirit and individuality. Great movie and I have watched it several times.
Cross Creek
