Plot Summary
It is 1942 and the German submarine fleet is heavily engaged in the so called "Battle of the Atlantic" to harass and destroy English shipping. With better escorts of the Destroyer Class, however, German U-Boats have begun to take heavy losses. "Das Boot" is the story of one such U-Boat crew, with the film examining how these submariners maintained their professionalism as soldiers, attempted to accomplish impossible missions, while all the time attempting to understand and obey the ideology of the government under which they served.

Fresh: Das Boot is yet another moving testament to the wastefulness of battle.
Fresh: Everything described in the film is authentic.
Fresh: Agripping, impressively detailed account of one harrowing voyage by a German U-boat during World War II.
Fresh: Suspenseful when it needs to be and intelligent in its depiction of the horrors of war and the sweaty claustrophobia of submarine life. On occasion, it's even -- pardon the pun -- deep.

Authentic and Engrossing
There really isn't much to say other than this is perhaps one of the best films ever made. I probably have seen it 30 times without exaggeration! Enjoy!

Allllaaarrrrm!!
Such a great film, of all the WW2 submarine movies that I have seen, I think that Das Boot is the best when it comes to show how life was like on a U-Boat. So exciting and interesting. If u haven't seen it, I highly suggest it of you are interested in WW2 history or action/adventure films. Heck...try it even if u aren't :)
