Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Truffaut is looking at the world from inside a glorious obsession: everyone outside looks a little gray and dim. – Vincent Canby, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Fresh: A poem in praise of making movies. Not good movies, not bad movies -- movies. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Oct 18, 2008

Fresh: It is a Pirandellian affair, an elegiac celebration of a dying kind of cinema, a meditation on the connection between film and life by Truffaut... – Philip French, Guardian, Feb 22, 2011

Fresh: It is a breezy, richly enjoyable if not especially profound film about cinema: it conjures the ambient, dizzy sexiness of movie artifice, and it's also notable for a remarkable cameo by Graham Greene. – Peter Bradshaw, Guardian, Feb 17, 2011

Day For Night

The movie is great, but this iTunes version is dubbed in English, and dubbed badly in voices other than those of the stars, except Bisset. It makes it hard to watch at times. Rent it from a store.

BAD DUBBING

DO NOT RENT THIS MOVIE. It is not "Truffaut's" "Day for Night"--it is a badly dubbed version that does no justice to the original, and Apple should be ashamed of itself for not advertising this CLEARLY when you download the movie. A tiny "Language: English" in a text box below the first scroll is not sufficient.

Horrible Dubbing

Do not rent this movie. It is dubbed into English. iTunes does not indicate anywhere that it is dubbed into English. Waste of money :(
