Plot Summary

Ving Rhames, Nick Cannon, and Mena Suvari star in director Steve Miner (Friday the 13th Part II, Halloween: H20)'s remake of the apocalyptic gore-fest that originally concluded George A. Romero's zombie trilogy back in 1985. A small American town has been infected with a deadly virus, and the military is determined to contain the sickness by establishing quarantine. When the situation spirals out of control and the infected residents develop a taste for human flesh, the military and surviving residents must band together to battle an enemy whose goal is not simply to kill, but to consume as well.

typical

The movie would of been better without Cannon's tired ghetto cliche' humor. It seems the hip-hop culture is sadly invading horror movies and dumbing them down.

Suprised!

Im a HUGE fan of zombie movies so I felt enclined to see one based off of the Romero classic Day of the Dead. And I rather liked this movie. The effects were cool as well as the zombie horror element. It just flowed pretty good. Now there were some things I wouldve changed: A) Nick Cannon was annoying. Get rid of him. B) Ving Rhames needed a bigger part. C) The zombies should not have been able to leap onto and crawl on walls and ceilings. It was a pointless attempt to make an innovative change to zombies in some way. Thos are the three main things but I remember having more when I watched the movie. But even so, for any zombie horror fan this should be a good watch. It has a good body count (with the main characters... with everyone else, its ENORMOUS!) which occurs at good time intervals. Definantly a sick and fun movie zombie fans can get into.

Why?

Why did they have to call this movie Day of the Dead? It has nothing to do with the original. It is not a remake. It is not a zombie movie, it is a poorly conceived virus movie. It has terrible dialogue. The characters are stereotyped to the point where it is offensive. In case I haven't made myself clear, as a fan of zombie movies I do not recommend this movie.
