Plot Summary

Using The DV camera originally enlisted to capture the making of his album, Andrew shot everything before and after the crucial day in May of 2005 when he both finished his record and was diagnosed with cancer. Dear Jack opens on the day of his diagnosis and continues on through the life-changing and deeply personal events that followed. The film also includes flashes back to Andrew's childhood and the making of the first Jack's Mannequin album, as well as rare live footage and the chronicling of his relationships with two very important people in his life, his sister and her best friend.

Finding Hope in Hard Places

Dear Jack is well worth purchasing. I've never said this about any other item on itunes with such immovability. I stand firm in saying that this is one of the best documentaries I've seen. Whether you are a Something Corporate fan, Jack's Mannequin fan, Cancer Survivor, or know of someone struggling through the fight that is cancer, Dear Jack is a must see. Hope is found in many ways. The important thing is that it is found. This movie is a source of hope for me. Dear Jack... Thanks

Inspiration For All

I went to the screening in Los Angeles last week and saw the film not really sure what to expect. What I ended up getting was something I think anyone can walk away from feeling changed and inspired. Andrew bravely decides to let us into his world at one of his most vulnerable time because he believed it was meant to be seen by others. Most of the footage is recorded by himself but his family, friends, and even the record label get involved in the project.

For fans of Andrew's work with Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin (but especially Jack's Mannequin) it shows some of the inner workings of what Andrew was going through while writing (more specifically writing Everything In Transit). In the film and afterwards at a Q&A session after the screening Andrew acknowledges the almost foreshadowing in Everything In Transit in that it almost validated the terrible experience he was facing.

For non-fans Andrew said that he simply wants the film to be found by those who need it for whatever reason. Fans or not it is a very moving and worth while film to watch.

Truly Inspiring <3

I stayed up until 12 writing a paper and waiting for this movie. Andrew's story is so inspiring, espcially because so many people in my life have cancer. Most importantly my nana passed away from colon cancer, and one of my friends was diagnosed with last spring. I love him and his music. A truly great film; his story will definitely stay with me.
