Plot Summary
The super fun Indie-comedy you’ve been looking for! Democracy at Work is a satire that tells the story of a single day of a local political campaign in which an anonymous rumor is leaked on the Internet about their candidate. We follow three distinct perspectives reacting to the allegations: The campaign staff as they try to control the uncontrollable, the local media as they try to leverage the scandal for greater ratings, and an undecided voter who is easily swayed from one side to the other while barely paying attention. It is a commentary on the absurdity of the system.

Hidden talent
A solid cast and their dedicated performances drive this Clerks-esque independent comedy about a day in and around the political machine. The scope is intimate and you never feel like you're being left out of anything. The title of this film has multiple meanings, and it will be up to you to decide what the most important one is. The filmmakers leaned heavily on a telegraphed story telling approach, and while it helps the pacing, it feels as if it is pandering at times. A little less might have given the incredibly talented cast more to work with. I mentioned Clerks earlier and it is definitely what it reminds me of, and that's not a bad thing. I just wish it had used a little more subtlety and subtext for the actors to chew on. That said, it is enjoyable and a bargain at the price.
An enjoyable satire
A satirical look at politics and the world it revolves around. While small town, this movie's scope reaches to presidential levels. And it makes politics enjoyable to those of us who only involve ourselves because we must.
