Dev D

Plot Summary

'Dev D' is about a generation that is jammed between eastern roots and western sensibilities. The movie explores rustic and colorful Punjab, as well as the dingy, morbid and dark underbelly of Delhi. The settings vary from sprawling mustard fields to a riot of neon. After spurning Paro's (Mahie Gill) love due to a misunderstanding, Dev (Abhay Deol) turns to drugs and vodka for solace. Paro moves on, but Dev is still remorseful. He meets Chanda (Kalki Koechlin), a prostitute with problems of her own. Dev likes her but his penchant for self-destruction prevents him and Chanda from truly getting together. He also meets Chunni, Chanda's pimp, who drags Dev further into self-destruction to further his own needs.
