Plot Summary
Different Hats is a film about a drama workshop for dementia patients and their partners. The film accompanies two couples before and during the workshop and shows how much creativity is possible for dementia patients and how much their partners need it. By engaging in theater, dementia patients discover abilities long forgotten: playing, singing, even improvising. And their partners learn to let go, to be themselves again. For the patients, partners and the carers that looked after the patients the whole week, this drama workshop was an experience that gave them a lot of energy. Although they wear different hats, in the play as well as in real life, they are in the same boat. And when they all end up physically in the same boat at the end of the workshop, the boat is a powerful metaphor for their real situation. A film that will help therapists and relatives of dementia partner to give dementia patients a new vitality and zest for life. A film that is made with a lot of love.

What an important story!
We all know someone with Alzheimers or have a friend who has a family member with it. It's such a growing health symptom. What a tragic story to tell. I could not imagine how it is to loose all my memory. It horrofies me deeply. This compelling story shows how people with Alzheimers and their loved ones go through this life-changing quest.
