Plot Summary
Writer/director Maurice Jamal follows up his debut feature, The Ski Trip, with this comedy about a gay man from the big city returning to his small Southern hometown. Rockmond Dunbar plays Sheldon, a New York magazine writer who has long left his roots behind. When he begrudgingly heads back to Georgia, cultures clash as the homosexual socialite reunites with the down-home folks of his youth. He also surprisingly learns that he has an estranged ten-year-old son. Dirty Laundry also stars Loretta Devine as Patrick's mother, Evelyn.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Mr. Jamal's direction ranges from clumsy to competent. Fortunately, even as Mr. Jamal's characters hit notes reminiscent of a half-baked television pilot, they disclose eccentricities that his cast spins into comic gold.
Rotten: Visually dull, without an ounce of cinematic purpose, pic will work most effectively on the small screen.
Rotten: Overwritten and under-directed by Maurice Jamal, the movie contains several honest moments but remains too awash in clichA (C)s and stereotypes to take seriously.
Fresh: Looking for plot holes? You can't miss them. But if you go in hoping for a good time, you'll find that, too.

B to B+ Movie
It's definitely not terrible as the previous reviewer would lead you to believe. The movie did run into a few snags with bad acting from some of the minor characters, but all major characters gave great performances. The storyline has a few surprises, and the writing is pretty good. Taking everything into consideration, a great watch. I plan on buying the DVD.
Charming...
I wouldn't call this a great movie but for the most part, it's an endearing one. It's most significant flaws I think are in the writing. For me, some of the comedic moments are a little too over-the-top, taking away from the main story line. BUT I would definitely recommend it for those starving for a vision of a black gay man who's not a cardboard, overplayed stereotype.
so thats your opinion
i seen the movie and i believe it was a pretty fair movie. Now the reason why i do support it because of my little brother aaron. I believe he was a great son and since this was his first movie i wouldnt knock him for it.
