Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Horseshoe crabs scuttle like possessed Nazi helmets and a school of fish morphs from dreidel to disco ball, as if choreographed by Busby Berkeley. – Jeannette Catsoulis, New York Times, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: There have, over the years, been a lot of terrific undersea documentaries, but if you want to know what distinguishes this new one, it comes down to a single word: technology. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Fresh: While it may not plunge deeply enough, Oceans continues the worthy efforts of explorers such as Jacques Cousteau, reminding us to respect nature and preserve the myriad life forms that rely on the ocean to survive. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: You're torn. Is this a work of nature pornography or consciousness raising? The movie thinks if it overwhelms us with the former, we won't notice the relative absence of the latter. – Wesley Morris, Boston Globe, Jun 24, 2010

Best Ocean Documentary

This is probably one of the best documentaries about the ocean yet. Way to go Disney nature!!!! It touches the heart and really is like a wake up call for all of us, to treat our only home and the ocean better.

Most Epic Documentary!

I was completely blown away by the epic scale of this documentary. I really hope the filmmakers who made this possible get the recognition that they deserve for what seemed like excruciating work to pull off. The cinematography is absolutely mesmerizing and on such an epic scale. The music is amazing and compliments the gorgeous visuals.
