Plot Summary

A frantic call for help from a remote research station on Mars sends a team of mercenary Marines into action. Led by The Rock and Karl Urban, they descend into the Olduvai Research Station, where they find a legion of nightmarish creatures, lurking in the darkness, killing at will. Once there, the Marines must use an arsenal of firepower to carry out their mission: nothing gets out alive. Based on the hugely popular video game, Doom is an explosive action-packed thrill ride!

Rotten: Yes, Doom is a bad movie but you already knew that. – Drew Tillman, Village Voice, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: It takes someone who has actually played the game to explain what a colossally bad idea the Doom movie -- and most films that use video games as source material -- was from the start. – Peter Hartlaub, San Francisco Chronicle, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: ... shows less human dimension than the new Wallace and Gromit movie. – Gene Seymour, Newsday, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: Not only do we rarely get to participate in the fun -- fun being the chance to watch demon guts splattered across the walls -- but there's barely any to be found. – Elizabeth Weitzman, New York Daily News, Jun 24, 2010

Amazing....

I really enjoyed this movie. I expected it to be totally cheesy and badly acted, but it wasn't. It was well acted and well made. for those of you who didn't like it just because it wasn't exactly like the game, you guys should be able to accept it as a movie, based on the video game. You shouldn't have walked into the theater expecting to be handed a controller and a headset. To base a movie on that video game would mean to have a similar story and to have a lot of mutated creatures getting brutally slaughtered. And it had all that. And if you can't accept it as that, then you should at least be able to take it as it's own movie, just one that uses the name of a video game.

Highly entertaining!

Despite less than brilliant critical response, I found "Doom" to be immensely entertaining. I happened to own this movie, and I found the effects and plotline, as well as the performances, to be much better than expected. There's plenty of both thrill and comic relief, so while this may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it's great if you're bored and want to see a sort-of zombie/monster flick with a nice twist.

One of my FAVS!!!

Excellent movie,.. One of the better (game to screen) movies out there. "The Rock" turned out to be an even better actor than a wrestler.
