This IS Dracula
After seeing every vampire movie out there I have to say that this is the finest telling of the Bram Stoker novel. Made in 1979 this movie has no real special effects....not like is used so needlessly today. It's all story and character development. The lead actor, Frank Langella, has an uncanny ability to both seduce and terrify you throughout the film with his smooth exterior and the undeniable wild underside. His enchanting co-star Kate Nelligan beautifully embodies the ever-strong and progressive Lucy. Of course...you can't overlook the role of Lawrence Olivier or Donald Pleasence. All splendid actors - All splendid performances. This movie was way beyond it's time. It didn't do well at the box office and yet I can't help but think that if it were released in today's market it would win out over anything and everything. We just weren't ready for the cinematography or the story back in 1979. *****Truly the best Dracula story/movie/love story ever*****
Best Dracula FIlm
Frank Langella as Dracula is mesmerizing and very sexy. Frank is Dracula, he was born for this role. The cinematography is very atmospheric and the music by John Williams sets the right mood to make this the best ever Dracula film.
Greatest Dracula Ever
I remember as a kid staying up one night after my parents told me to go to bed and running across this movie. I'm now 38 years old and still remember this Dracula version. The best Dracula movie ever. I have compaired every new Dracula movie to this one. It made such an impact on my young 6 year old mind, but I remember very vivid details of this movie. It was great and Frank played Dracula the best I've ever seen it played. I've since watched it again and my adult mind agrees with the kid in me. This is still the best ever.
