Plot Summary

Adventure rules - in this thrilling action epic follow-up to the original hit film, Dragonheart. When Geoff, an orphaned stable boy (Malcolm in the Middle's Chris Masterson), discovers Drake (the voice of Robby Benson), the world's last living dragon, he realizes that his dream of becoming a knight in shining armor can now come true. Together, they soon face challenges that turn them into heroes. But caught up in the excitement of their new lives, Geoff and Drake fail to see the hidden dangers that surround them. Conquering the enemy may take more than courageous exploits and brave deeds...it may take everything they have.

Pretty Good

but not as good as the 1st movie, Dragonheart, BUY THEM BOTH!!!

Great family film!

While the first movie is an epic classic, this film presents itself more as a family film. Which works because this was their intention. A nice thing that sets this movie apart from most Direct to video sequels is that it is a completely original story (that uses the same universe with a new generation of characters). My only nitpic is that they don't explain how Drake's egg came to be. The cast is great, and the acting us very smooth. Robby Benson also does a terrific job at bringing out Drakes naive yet brave personality. Even with a visibly lower budget the film is still a worthy sequel to the original. Although you do not need to see the first movie to follow this story line, I highly suggest you watch Dragonheart(1996) before you watch this one to fully get a feel for the film's atmosphere.

Thoughts

It doesn't feel like it was made to be a sequel, but a prequel to a movie that was never made. Which is a shame since there aren't very many fantasy movies quite like Dragonheart. By that I mean with dragons as not being the opposition in the end.
