Plot Summary

In the high-octane, action-adventure DRIVE ANGRY, Nicolas Cage stars as an undead felon who breaks out of hell to track down and kill a group of cult-worshipping cutthroats who brutally murdered his daughter and kidnapped her baby. Armed with a shot gun and a '69 Charger, Cage teams up with sexy, tough-as-nails waitress Piper (Amber Heard) and the two begin a rampage of redemption through the back woods of the south, all while being pursued by an enigmatic killer (William Fichtner) who has been sent by the Devil to retrieve Milton and deliver him back to hell.

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Makes a loud, incoherent but oddly compelling case for the enhancing effects of stereoscopic projection on certain treasured objects of the cinematic gaze, like classic Detroit muscle cars, women's breasts and Nicolas Cage. – A.O. Scott, New York Times, Feb 25, 2011

Rotten: Cage has forged his own hell, and it's called: the movies he's addicted to making, even when they trash his brand. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Feb 25, 2011

Rotten: Being stoned or otherwise buzzed might help. – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone, Mar 4, 2011

Fresh: Sharp 3D lensing and low-octane camp humor help rev up Drive Angry. – Rob Nelson, Variety, Feb 25, 2011

Lots of TnA...

If your a frat boy, you'll love this film.

Dang fun film

I was skeptical at first, but I went to go see this instead of the friends with benefits Ashton Kutcher movie. I made a great choice! Sure, it's not thought provoking or deep or even appropriate (The hotel shootout in particular), but it is quite funny and entertaining in some parts (such as the church aftermath and the druggie kids; and the aforementioned hotel scene. Unfortunately, the film was a bit too short on the chase sequences, but it's still a great throwback to exploitation films of the 70s. 4 Chargers out of 5

Campy fun

So if you go in expecting total campiness and cheasy lines with fast-paced action and gore then you will like this movie. Don't expect some incredible thriller with a deep plot heavy acting and lessons learned. This is plain fun with Nicholas Cage playing a sillier version of Nicholas Cage playing Milton, an undead Felon from Hell who has come to save the life of his grandchild from an evil cult with the help of a kickass waitress. Great movie for popping open a beer on a night after work.
