Plot Summary

James Cromwell (Babe) stars in this heartwarming adaptation of the acclaimed best-seller about an eight-year-old Cherokee boy in Tennessee's Smoky Mountains during the 1930s. That boy is Little Tree (Joseph Ashton), sent to live with his mountain-dwelling grandparents after the loss of his mother and father. It's the beginning of a new life for Little Tree, filled with joy, discovery, setbacks, triumphs and good friends like mystical Cherokee seer Willow John (Graham Greene, Dances with Wolves). Life is hard during the depression, but for Little Tree it's an unforgettable time of growing up.

One of those you never heard of but it's great.

I watched this movie with my nieces one evening and was greatly surprised. Beautifully shot, great characters and a story of the value of a grandparent. James Cromwell rarely has a poor perfromance and I believe this is one of his best. It's one of those movies that probably had a small audience and iI would categorize it with another favorite file, "Second Hand Lions." Little Tree learns about the improtance of respecting the land, the value and wisdom of older people in his life and ultimately, what it means to be part of a family who sticks together. Highly recommended.

Good movie

I saw this when I was young, living in germany, and loved it. I couldn't even remember the title of this movie until I stumbled across it while I was looking through itunes. This is a great movie, I can't believe that itunes has such an infamous movie!

Movie well done, but....

This movie was well done and we enjoyed it, however, for a PG movie and for a movie of this kind the language was a bit "well done" (over done). It would have been a 5 star if the language was not so strong and frequent.
