Plot Summary
From acclaimed director José Padilha (Bus 174) and the Academy Award-nominated writer of City of God comes the highest-grossing film of all time in South America. The sprawling slum that surrounds Rio de Janeiro is one of the most dangerous places on earth, so as the head of Rio's Special Police Operations Battalion, Captain Nascimento has seen his share of intense situations. When a mission to stop a jail riot ends in the violent death of a gang leader, Nascimento finds himself accused of a massacre…but the citizens of Rio, tired of the crime and drugs that plague their city, embrace him as a national hero. Instead of being fired he finds himself promoted. In his powerful new position, Nascimento brings the gangs that rule the slum to their knees, but quickly discovers that he's only made things even easier for the dirty cops and corrupt politicians that are truly running the game. Now, Nascimento must confront his true enemies, who are much more dangerous...and sitting just down the hall.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: The carnage, although explicit and frequent, is not grotesquely overdone.
Fresh: The pace is quick, the violence is rough, and the visual style is documentary as Padilha hammers home his point: Someone is forever in the pocket of someone else as The System constantly adapts to protect itself.
Fresh: When this Enemy Within settles into key action sequences, such as a stunning nighttime ambush or a daytime battle against Fabio, it becomes wildly entertaining.
Fresh: A fast-paced, hard-hitting Brazilian police thriller.

About time!
Finally the movie that was such a hit in Brazil is here on Itunes! Please complete the set by offering us part one of "Tropa de elite" as it is called in Portugues. Wagner Morura and Andre Ramiro give preformances that should have been honored at the academy awards. It is a movie that highlight the stress of working as a member of the Elite BOPE squad in Brazil. It shows the paramilitary cops as truly human with flaws and all. BOPE is like a SWAT teams in the US only a lot rougher and less diplomatic. They are the ones you want when you are in trouble, but the ones whose gaze you don't want to linger on you too long as you walk past them. In this movie, the second in the series, it highlights how corrupt the regular cops are to the point of killing their own to keep a control of the drugs and scams. It shows how crime can not exist with out a bit of help from those who are suppose to protect you. It is one more great thing out of Brazil's growing film industry. And please download "bus 174" if you haven't seen it already. It stars Andre Romiro in the true story of a cop that tries to bring a bus hijacking to a peaceful conclusion. Truly, it is a shame that this movie did not get more respect and attention from the US. As good as this part 2 is, Part one is outstanding!
The Enemy Within is a Sequel
Where is the original Elite Squad? Both movies are fantastic, but why put up the 2nd and not the first?
