Plot Summary

Jake Gyllenhaal reteams with PRISONERS director Denis Villeneuve in this sexy and mind bending thriller. Adam Bell is a glum professor who has grown disinterested by his ordinary life. When Adam discovers a man who appears to be his double, the identical men meet and their lives become bizarrely and hauntingly intertwined. Gyllenhaal is transfixing playing both roles, journeying through a world both familiar and strange. The film’s final and unnerving image will not be soon forgotten by audiences. In the end, only one man can survive.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The story's dour flatness keeps it from being as disturbing as it aims to be. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Mar 20, 2014

Fresh: "Enemy" may be built more on questions than answers, but in the probing it generates a satisfyingly arch hum of weirdness. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Mar 20, 2014

Fresh: The movie sticks to you ... and the ending is strange and sudden enough to make you revise, or interrogate, all that has come before. – Anthony Lane, New Yorker, Mar 17, 2014

Fresh: Watching "Enemy," in which Gyllenhaal cleverly delineates the character differences and confidence levels of the two leading roles, it's clear that the movie is messing with you, in a highly calibrated fashion. – Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune, Mar 20, 2014

DARK

Beautifully filmed. Wonderfully acted. The score is amazing. This movie made me anxious, tense, nervous, and a bit scared. Immediately wanted to watch it again!
If you like Cronenberg, Winding, Kubrik. You'll should dig this flick.

LOL

The people who are saying the movie is a waste of time are probably too stupid to understand the story .

For those that think weird movies are awesome

Only for those that think that weird is art and what makes a movie great. Boring, confusing, terrible music and the acting was frustrating at best. Is everyone in the movie mentally handicapped? Terrible. Mind-bending? More like mind numbing.
