Plot Summary
English Vinglish is the story of a woman who does not know English and is made to feel insecure by her family and society at large. The film is a lighthearted yet touching and transformational journey of Shashi. Circumstances make her determined to overcome this insecurity, master the language, teach the world a lesson on the way to becoming a self-assured and confident woman.

A Gem of a Film!
A must see for anyone who has come or gone to another country and didn't know the language. The main character is a loving mother and wife, but is not appreciated for the role she plays or the talents she possess. Eventually, Shasi overcomes and discovers self-confidence, self love and respect. A very realistic look at different cultures, how we treat each other and the spirit to overcome. Refreshing movie!

This film has such universal appeal... Not only the acting but the character development, writing and directing allow for anyone to identify with and relate to a number of characters. One of my favorite films...
