Plot Summary
Delivering awesome high-tech action in the power-packed style of The Matrix and Minority Report, Equilibrium stars Christian Bale (The Fighter) and Taye Diggs (TV's Private Practice) in a thrilling look at a future where the only crime is being human. In an attempt to end wars and maintain peace, mankind has outlawed the things that trigger emotion-literature, music and art. To uphold the law, a special breed of police is assigned to eliminate all transgressors. But when the top enforcer (Bale) misses a dose of an emotional-blocking drug, he begins to realize that things are not as they seem. Also starring Sean Bean (National Treasure) and Emily Watson (Red Dragon).

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: A movie that could be stupider only if it were longer.
Rotten: Matrixian, Orwellian, and boneheadian.
Fresh: A moderately entertaining cautionary tale.
Rotten: A science-fiction pastiche so lacking in originality that if you stripped away its inspirations there would be precious little left.

blew my mind
the sword katas and gun katas in this move define the art in martial arts. the storyline is very 1984 but darker. i place this movie close to the the top of my dark action and high body-count list. obviously, i disagree with Rotten Tomatoes on this one. these so called "Critics" reviewed this 2002 release in 2008-2010. just goes to show you that they are reviewing a movie that never made it on their radar until years later...which tells me that this type of movie is not in their wheelhouse and therefore should not be reviewing this movie. just saying...
hey not bad
As the inevitable clone/comparison to The Matrix...this movie does a darn good job at entertainment.....please dont be fooled by the awdul...nearly unwatchable...first 15 min of this movie...after that your in for a very interesting action packed ride...the movie has a straingforward yet intriguing plot....and the action scenes are very fun and violent...
8/10 :D
